Popsicles are a treat that everyone in the family loves and
a great way to introduce cooking to your children without the dangers of heat.
Popsicle mold cups can be purchased at any dollar store in
your area or you can use a plastic cup and spoon if you don’t have the cups.
Start with fruit juice, fruit drinks and add any variety of
fruit into the cup with the fruit juice. Make sure that the fruit is not
over-ripe and taste the mixture before freezing. If the mixture needs
sweetening, don’t just settle for sugar, you can use honey, agave nectar or any
other natural sweetener.
To make creamy popsicles, simply add yogurt, milk or half
and half to the mixture. My favorite is chocolate popsicles so I use chocolate
milk. Ok, natural isn’t for everyone.
Don’t expect your child to have perfect aim, they are
learning and they have little hands so they cannot hold large containers full
of liquid. Use small sized measuring
cups with handles for liquids. Plan for spills by using towels under the Popsicle
mold form.
Any way you make it,
this is a great and inexpensive way to spend quality time with your child/children.
